A proud adherent to the traditional methods, Casa de Saima crushes their grapes by foot and open-ferment their red wines before ageing them in 100 year old casks. They produce some of the finest examples of Bairrada wines; they have long championed the classic Baga grape and feature it in most of their red wines. However, Casa de Saima brings a modern twist to this traditional style. Their red wines have serious undertones of intense spice, meat and gravel, but are uplifted by ripe strawberry, cherry and mint. To find this balance between modernity and antiquity can be quite elusive, but Casa de Saima has certainly hit the mark.
