SAINT JULIEN, BORDEAUX, FRANCE
As the second son to the wealthy Straffan House in Co. Kildare (Ireland), Anthony Barton didn’t expect to inherit much. Nevertheless his Uncle Ronald, the previous owner of the Leoville/Langoa estate produced no heirs and so the talented Anthony was left with estate in 1983.
Since then he has run the estate with considerable aplomb, being named ‘Man of the Year’ by Decanter in 2007. Anthony currently has the support of his daughter, Lilian Barton-Sartorius and her daughter Melanie who recently graduated in Oenology.
