Domaine Vincent Paris

CORNAS, RHONE VALLEY, FRANCE

Vincent Paris stands out among his colleagues in the Rhone because he prunes his vines so heavily, they produce anywhere from 20-40% less fruit. This lowered yield means that each grape is more concentrated, therefore producing a more intense wine. The vintages from 2008 onwards have become increasingly impressive, with many of them finding their way onto the wine lists of three-star restaurants. Paris' vineyards are all grown on granite soil and feature vines that are anywhere from 35 to 80 years old. This, combined with Paris' intense pruning, create wines that are intense and deep, with a long, lingering finish. They display notes of crushed dark berries, offset by a rich meaty, savoury character.
