YARRA VALLEY, AUSTRALIA
Named after a Persian King who stored grapes in a glass jar over winter, which then fermented. One of his harem then drank this 'poison' to end it all as her migraines were intolerable, and she was cured forever. Now I'm not promoting the consumption of alcohol to cure your headache, but it is a far more natural cure (if it works) than a lot of pain medication!
Gary Mills is the man in charge of the juice here. He has worked under one of my wine heroes, Paul Draper of Ridge, and the great mans teachings have been reflected by the powerful, but elegant, wines that Gary is producing. He is a Syrah lover, but makes a fab Pinot as well.
