Tasting Note

So much more to New Zealand than Marlborough. This Waipara Sauvignon Blanc gives lovely gooseberry flavours and a long, citrus focused finish.

Producer

Named after the mighty range of Southern Alps which form the backbone of Te Wai Pounamu, the South Island of Aotearoa, New Zealand, Main Divide is a family-owned winery, by the Donaldson Family of Pegasus Bay Wines. They aim to produce wines that reflect the unspoilt freshness, purity and cool climate of the south, whist also retaining the individual regional and varietal character of each grape.

The Donaldson family have been immersed in the wine industry since the early 1970s. They were pioneers of the grape growing and wine making in their local area and have developed their business thoroughly. Each member of the family plays a vital role in the running of the business, each sharing their own specific expertise across all aspects of the company.

Whilst using the fruit from their Main Divide Te Hau vineyard, they also work with a select few North Canterbury vineyards, chosen becuase of their unique situations or terroir and the quality of their grapes with the intention of working with them throughout the season to obtain quality fruit, all of which is then hand-crafted into the wines by this family.

The winery's philosophy is bases itself on individuality and harmony, with the desire to produce distinctive, vibrant and complex wines, reflecting the unique aspects of the region.
