Organic & Biodynamic

Wine has been around for 5000 years and it has only been in the past century or so that we've stopped farming organically.  The twentieth century was very much about chucking chemicals at plants to make sure they had a harvest, but ironically, the biggest problem to face grapes - the phylloxera epidemic of the late 19th century - was cured by an organic method of planting on American root stock.  Mind you, this could be considered an early example of genetic manipulation....

In the twenty first century, a lot of winemakers are going back to an organic, or biodynamic, method of production and finding that their wines are getting better.  A lot of 'certification bodies' charge producers to use their logo which states that they are organic so there are a lot of uncertified wines out there.  Everything shown below is organic, biodynamic or adopts organic practices.
