"White peach and croissant with lemon and a fresh bright acidity"
The Moncuit family has been growing vines on 8 hectares in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger since 1889. Their holdings are 100% Chardonnay. In 1928 Robert Moncuit started to make wines under the family name and today his grandson Pierre Amillet runs the domaine. Pierre continues the traditions of his grandfather, working without herbicides or pesticides to nurture microbial life and the natural balance of the soils, which allows the wines to express the identity of their sites. They harvest manually, and each plot is pressed and kept separately to give a palette for blending his cuvées. They ferment in a combination of neutral oak and stainless steel to preserve the characteristic minerality and focus for Chardonnay from Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
What a wine - truffles, honey, cooked peaches and a lovely long, semi sweet palate. A fabulous example of a sweeter Vouvray. Wine available Mid May 2018. Contains Sulphites
Grenache comes to the fore, a super balance of fruit and spice. Fennel comes out with jammy red berries and spice. A lovely Chateauneuf du Pape from this great producer....
"Oyster shells, a little smoke and then lemon coming out. A nice, well balanced palate, good acidity, easy and with a hint of baked apple on the finish. Good"
