New Zealand

"If New Zealand learns how to make Chardonnay, then we are all screwed"  These are the words of an Australian winemaker, who makes very tasty Chardonnay, which really shows how much untapped potential the country has.

Sadly it has been hiding behind Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Central Otago Pinot Noir for too long.  They are delicious, no argument from me there, but their Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Merlots, Chenin Blancs, non-Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs, Syrahs and Rieslings are all outstanding and nobody is drinking them!

Fortunately this is changing and these wines are becoming more popular and there are some stonking Chardonnays too - Australia should be worried!
